The Employee–Manager Review System (EMRS) is a software application that facilitates employee skill tracking and assessment. Spot Solutions created this system entirely from scratch, with a design inspired by an older, paper-based legacy process. We created two sides to the application—one for employees to enter their qualifications and experience, and one for managers to review and evaluate the employees. We used intuitive and flexible page tabs and dynamic menus so that employees would need no training to use the application. We designed the application so that page content and controls were dynamically created. This enabled our client, a management consulting firm, to quickly and cheaply reconfigure the site for different organizations they were working with. Critically, we delivered the system to the client under extremely rigid deadline and budget constraints.
